GLÓRACH: After a wonderful night of music with John Spillane last Friday, we are looking forward to a busy September schedule. First up on Thursday, September 12th is Limerick singer-songwriter Emma Langford. Emma received widespread critical acclaim for her debut album Quiet Giant in 2017 and last year won the RTE Radio One ‘Best Emerging Artist’ award at their inaugural folk awards. A concert not to be missed, Emma will be ably supported on the night by Trevor Sexton, who made a fantastic impression at the Hearts of Men concert at the Glórach in June. Two days later, we switch genres, but the level of high quality musicianship will remain constant as Leroy Troy and his Hillbilly Trio come to town. Having wowed international audiences, they make their debut at the Glórach and suffice to say it’s rare a bluegrass group of this calibre come to Abbeyfeale so make sure to mark Saturday 14th in your diary. On Friday, September 20th we will hosting our annual Culture Night event. This year is a Scoraíocht theme, with song, music, dance and drama, celebrating the culture and heritage of Abbeyfeale and the surrounding area. In a month in which we celebrate local, national and international talent, we are confident there is something to please everyone in our September programme. All events start at 8 pm, keep up to date with events on our facebook page and for bookings or enquiries please contact 0871383940
PPN REOPENS: The Limerick Public Participation Network (PPN) Secretariat is delighted to announce that the PPN’s membership registration/re registration process has re-opened, and they are inviting community and voluntary groups and across Limerick City and County to register or reregister to be part of a local structure that helps citizens take an active formal role in relevant policy development and representing the PPN on various committees of the Local Authority.
NATIONAL CULTURE NIGHT AT THE GLÓRACH; Glórach will host an event on +N
ational Culture Night on Friday, September 20, which we’re calling a SCORAIOCHT and describing it as an occasion for local people to meet up and make merry through Song, Dance, Music & Storytelling/Drama, with a little bit of gossiping thrown in! Our show will run for 90 minutes in total, with an intermission, and will provide an opportunity for local performers/entertainers to showcase their talents through song, dance, music and drama. With a cast of over 30, we will provide a broad range of entertainment and not a few surprises as part of the package! The show, which has free entry, will start at 8pm, but you may choose to arrive earlier and over a glass of wine or a beer or the even more dependable “cuppa”, enjoy a chat with friends and neighbours and also partake of a little light food for soakage, as guests of Glórach. As the show could, very easily, become a “hot ticket” event and as seating is limited, we recommend that you reserve your seat by calling the Glórach booking line on 0871383940. The performances and running order are almost finalized and more details will follow as the date runs down – so watch this space!

This annual pilgrimage is a special day for grandparents and families, and a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the great contribution that grandparents make to Church, to family, and to society in teaching and passing on the faith. Many Catholics can testify to the profound influence of a Grandparent and the development and nurturing of their own faith. The seeds your Grandparents plant in childhood may not seem to bloom for some time, but they go deep into the soil. This is the only purpose of The Catholic Grandparents Association, to help and support Grandparents in their great task. Grandparents were never as important as they are today at this critical time to the church, the family and society The pilgrimage begins with the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at 2.30pm. The Pilgrimage Mass follows at 3.00pm with Chief Celebrant Bishop Kevin Doran, Bishop of Elphin.
